Equifax in India
Equifax Credit Information Services is one of India's four RBI-licensed credit bureaus. It is used widely by microfinance lenders, small finance banks and NBFCs, so if you have ever taken a small business, gold or group loan, your Equifax report may hold accounts that matter.
Step by step
- Open equifax.co.in yourself — type the address, don't follow a link from an SMS or a stranger.
- Look for the free annual credit report (the RBI asks every bureau to show it clearly).
- Enter your name, date of birth, PAN (or another ID the site asks for), mobile number and email.
- Confirm with the OTP sent to your mobile, and answer the identity questions if Equifax shows them.
- Download the report as a PDF and keep it — note the date, so you know when your next free one is due.
What to check in the report
- Your details: name spelling, date of birth, PAN, addresses and phone numbers. Old or wrong ones can mix your report with someone else's.
- Every account: is each one yours? Are closed loans shown as closed (not "settled")?
- Payment history: any month marked late that you paid on time?
- Enquiries: any lender you never applied to? That could be a sign of identity misuse — contact the lender and the bureau at once.
If something is wrong
Raise a dispute on equifax.co.in. Keep your loan closure letter or NOC and payment proof ready; the bureau will check with the lender. Read the full process in how to raise a CIBIL dispute — it works the same way at Equifax.
Oxon Fintech is a loan facilitation platform, not a credit bureau. We do not check, sell, repair or change credit scores; get your report from the bureaus' own websites. Rules as checked on the date above.
