What you need
Your consumer number (also called account number, CA number, K number or service connection number, depending on the board) printed on any old bill, and the name of your electricity board (discom). On a UPI or banking app, choose Electricity, pick your board and enter the number — the app fetches the amount due.
Ways to pay
- Your discom's own website or app.
- Any UPI or banking app under Bills → Electricity (through Bharat Connect).
- Net banking auto-debit, or a UPI AutoPay mandate.
- Cash counters and authorised collection centres.
Some boards give a small rebate for paying early or online — check your bill.
Reading your bill
| Line | What it is |
|---|---|
| Fixed / demand charge | A monthly charge per kW of sanctioned load, whatever you use |
| Energy charge | Units used × the rate for each slab; higher slabs cost more per unit |
| Fuel / power purchase adjustment | Passes on changes in the cost of buying power |
| Electricity duty | The state's tax on electricity |
| Arrears, late payment surcharge | Unpaid past dues and the penalty for paying late |
| Subsidy | Any state subsidy deducted |
Check the previous and current meter readings: if the units look wrong, photograph your meter and raise a complaint with the discom.
Smart prepaid meters
Many states are replacing old meters with smart meters under the central Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme. On a prepaid smart meter you recharge in advance like a mobile, and the app shows daily use — helpful for keeping bills in check.
Cut the bill
- Move heavy use (washing machine, pumps) so you stay in a lower slab.
- Choose 5-star appliances and LED lighting.
- Rooftop solar: under PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, households can get a central subsidy of up to ₹78,000 for a 3 kW rooftop system; apply on the scheme's national portal.
The disconnection scam
Oxon Fintech does not sell recharges or collect bill payments. Plan prices and benefits are the operators' own, as listed on the date above; they change often and can differ by telecom circle, so confirm in the operator's app before paying.
