One network for most bills
Bharat Connect (until 2024 called the Bharat Bill Payment System, BBPS) is run by NPCI Bharat BillPay, part of the NPCI family that runs UPI. Thousands of billers — electricity boards, gas and water utilities, DTH and broadband companies, FASTag issuers, insurers, lenders and card issuers — are on it, so any bank or app that shows the Bharat Connect mark can pay them. Read what Bharat Connect is.
The bills, one by one
| Bill | What you need | Guide |
|---|---|---|
| Electricity | Consumer / account number and your board's name | Electricity bill payment |
| FASTag | Vehicle number or tag ID | FASTag recharge & annual pass |
| DTH | Subscriber ID or registered mobile | DTH recharge |
| Credit card | Last 4 digits of card and registered mobile | Credit card bill payment |
| Cooking gas | LPG consumer number or registered mobile | LPG cylinder booking |
| Mobile | Your number | Compare recharge plans |
Never miss a due date
- Set up auto-pay (a UPI AutoPay mandate or your bank's biller auto-debit) for fixed bills.
- Turn on the biller's SMS or email alerts for new bills.
- Pay a few days early: a late electricity bill adds a surcharge; a late credit card bill adds interest and can be reported to the credit bureaus.
Pay safely
- Pay through the biller's own app or website, your bank, or a UPI app — look for the Bharat Connect mark.
- Never pay through a link in an SMS or WhatsApp message, and never call a number from a message threatening disconnection. Billers don't ask you to install screen-sharing apps.
- Keep the transaction reference ID; it is what you quote in a complaint.
- You never need your UPI PIN to receive money; anyone who asks for it is a fraudster.
A big bill you can't pay at once?
Talk to the biller first — many electricity boards allow instalments on large arrears. For one-off large expenses, compare options carefully; a personal loan can cost far less than rolling over a credit card balance.
Oxon Fintech does not sell recharges or collect bill payments. Plan prices and benefits are the operators' own, as listed on the date above; they change often and can differ by telecom circle, so confirm in the operator's app before paying.
