EMI on a ₹10,000 personal loan
The table shows the monthly EMI on ₹10,000 at a few illustrative interest rates and tenures, worked out with the standard reducing-balance formula.
| Tenure | EMI at 14% | EMI at 18% | EMI at 24% |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6 months | ₹1,735 | ₹1,755 | ₹1,785 |
| 12 months | ₹898 | ₹917 | ₹946 |
| 18 months | ₹619 | ₹638 | ₹667 |
| 24 months | ₹480 | ₹499 | ₹529 |
At 18%, choosing 24 months instead of 6 lowers the EMI but raises the total interest from about ₹532 to about ₹1,982. The rates here are examples only; your rate depends on the lender and your profile. Try other numbers in the calculator below or read how EMI is calculated.
Who borrows ₹10,000
₹10,000 is usually a short gap, not a big purchase: a phone or bike repair, a school fee instalment, a medical test, or the days before salary arrives. Most people want to repay it within a few months.
What to watch at ₹10,000
At this size the fees matter more than the rate. A flat processing fee of ₹500 is already 5% of the loan, before any interest. Compare offers on the total cost in the lender's Key Fact Statement, not on the EMI. A salary advance from your employer, or a credit card you can clear by the due date, may cost less for an amount this small.

Eligibility
Lenders look at your income, existing EMIs, credit score, job or business stability and banking history. As a rough guide, an EMI of about ₹917 (18%, 12 months) fits within half of a take-home income of around ₹2,000 a month if you have no other EMIs. Most lenders also set their own minimum monthly income, often higher than that, so the higher of the two applies — check your own numbers with the loan eligibility calculator.
